Uniclox Partnered with Shoose Life to Help with School Shoes

Uniclox partnered with Shoose Life and LekkerFM during the month of August, to hand out school shoes to children in need at Westside Primary School. Find out how you can get involved with changing lives 1 step at a time!

Did you know that there are approximately 20 million children under the age of 18 years in South Africa? This makes up 34% of the total South African population. In 2018 11.3 million children attended some form of educational facility. The sad part is that in 2019 it was estimated that 56% of children live below the upper-bound poverty line.

Children – Our Nation’s Greatest Asset

I agree, children are our greatest asset as a nation. As adults, it is our responsibility to do what we can to help, care and provide. We can’t always change the world, but we can start by being the change we want to see in the World, as the great Mahatma Ghandi said. Just start somewhere and do it!

Shoose Life = School Shoes

This is why Uniclox decided that we will be partnering with Shoose Life and reach out to Westside Primary School. It has come to our attention that there are some children in urgent need of new school shoes. With the freezing weather conditions, we decided to get these kids some school shoes as soon as possible. With the help of LekkerFM, this day promises to be one filled with joy!

Westside Primary School was established in 1979 as a Pre-School and in 2000 become a Primary School with their first Grade 1 group. The school has 819 learners. They are part of the Government Feeding Scheme and feed more than 292 learners daily. This is al being done under the leadership of one amazing and dynamic lady, head master Soekie Pieters.

Uniclox, together with Shoose Life and LekkerFM visited the school on the 25th of August with boxes filled with brand new school shoes. Shoose Life provide extremely durable and waterproof school shoes at only R35 per pair of shoes.

The Path of Success Starts with School Shoes

Wearing a pair of brand new, shiny school shoes doesn’t only provide comfort to a child, it is also a symbol of pride, gives confidence and also sees to their path of success.

Our children are the rock on which our future will be built, our greatest asset as a nation. They will be the leaders of our country, the creators of our national wealth, those who care for and protect our people.” – Nelson Mandela
